Measure the area and describe the rooms
Provide approximate dimensions or a floor plan. Note separate rooms, corridors, stairs and tight edges. Two projects with the same total area can have very different layouts and access. Mention whether the space is empty or occupied, and whether equipment must pass through narrow doors, stairs or shared areas.
Explain what is there now
Bare concrete is a different starting point from tiles, glued timber, carpet or a failed coating. Removal, adhesive treatment and waste handling should be identified in the quote. Photos help, but hidden slab conditions may only become clear after the old floor is lifted. Ask how any additional work would be assessed and agreed.
Be specific about the finish
Mechanical polish, grind & seal and epoxy are different scopes. Within each, preparation and the intended appearance can vary. Tell the contractor whether you want subtle aggregate, a more exposed appearance or a particular sheen. An example image is useful, provided it is treated as a reference rather than a promise that your concrete will look identical.
Look beyond the headline total
Request a written breakdown that identifies the area, preparation, repairs, edges, finish and exclusions. Check whether tax, site protection, removal and clean-up are covered. Ask about programme requirements and when the floor can be used again. A quote with these details is easier to compare than a lower figure with important work left unspecified.
Prepare a useful quote request
Send your suburb, approximate area, several wide and close-up photos, current flooring type and desired timeframe. Mention whether you are coordinating with a builder or another flooring installer. We do not publish a universal rate because the site has not yet been assessed. The useful number is a project-specific price tied to a clear scope of work.
